Clean Planet Energy recently announced the details of two new ultra-clean fuels. These two fuels are manufactured to replace fossil fuels and can be used on any ship or vessel. New products under the banner of "Clean the Earth and Oceans" can reduce carbon dioxide emissions by more than 75% and can reduce harmful air pollutants by 1,500 times. Both of these fuels are produced from non-recyclable waste plastics, thus eliminating waste that would otherwise be incinerated, landfilled or entering the ocean.

"Ships using Clean Planet Energy's marine distilled fuel can reduce sulfur pollution by more than 1,500 times and 75% of carbon dioxide emissions."

Following Clean Planet’s recent announcement of the launch of ultra-clean aviation fuel, Clean Planet Oceans also includes ultra-clean marine residual fuel (also known as marine fuel or fuel oil) that meets the international ISO 8712 2017 standard, and high-quality marine distillate fuel that meets the highest EN15940 diesel specification. .

In addition to reducing carbon dioxide by 75%, a significant benefit of these new fuels is the reduction of NOx (nitrogen dioxide) and SOx (sulfur dioxide) emissions. Nitrogen oxides and sulfur oxides are some of the most common air pollutants produced by burning fossil fuels, causing approximately 9,000 deaths worldwide every day (source: IHME). Compared with the latest and strict International Maritime Organization regulations, Clean Planet's fuel can reduce sulfur emissions by 1,500 times.

"Sulfur and other air pollutants are measured in ppm (parts per million). According to the IMO 2020 [International Maritime Organization] regulations implemented last year, ships equipped with scrubbers are allowed to burn marine fossil fuel oil. The sea emits 35,000 ppm of sulfur, while ships without scrubbers are allowed to emit 5000 ppm of sulfur into the air,” said Dr. Andrew Odjo, CTO of Clean Planet Energy. “In contrast, Clean Planet Energy’s marine residual fuel contains only At 35ppm, Clean Planet Energy’s marine distilled oil has a sulfur content of only 3ppm. This means that ships using Clean Planet Ocean’s marine distilled oil fuel can reduce by more than 1,500 compared to ships using fossil fuels without scrubbers Compared with ships using scrubbers, sulfur pollution can be reduced by more than 10,000 times."

The UK-based renewable energy company will produce these ultra-clean cycle fuels in its environmentally friendly factories. Clean Planet's environmentally friendly factories can accept and convert non-recyclable waste plastics, otherwise these plastics will be incinerated, landfilled or enter the ocean. According to data provided by parties including the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and the World Economic Forum, 203 million tons of plastic will become non-recyclable waste this year. This means that Clean Planet's technology not only reduces carbon dioxide emissions and air pollutants, but also Solved the plastic crisis.

"Compared with the use of carbon-based fuels in the marine and aviation sectors, there are currently no legal and large-scale alternatives. Although cars are moving towards electrification, the longevity of large ships means that we will continue to use fossil fuels for many years to come. Fuel engines. By using non-recyclable waste plastics as fuel raw materials for these industries, we can reduce daily carbon dioxide emissions by 75%, keep chemical oil underground, and win precious time in the global battle to achieve zero carbon emissions." Dr. Odjo added.

At present, Clean Planet has two environmental protection factories in the construction stage, and the other 4 are under development. Its goal is to build enough environmental protection factories to realize the vision of processing more than 1 million tons of waste plastics each year. A standard Clean Planet ecoPlant can process 20,000 tons of waste plastic each year.
