Zoom begone—showtime is back! The nation’s premier medical manufacturing event, Medical Design & Manufacturing (MD&M) West returns to the Anaheim Convention Center in Anaheim, CA, on Aug. 10 to 12, 2021, and I couldn’t be more jazzed. And I’m not just saying that because it’s organized by Informa Markets – Engineering, which also publishes PlasticsToday. Really, I’m excited to get back in the arena and hobnob with exhibitors to learn about new developments at their companies and attend conference sessions for deeper dives into advanced manufacturing and medtech trends. I trust that many of you feel the same way.

MD&M West is the flagship of a much broader event — Informa Markets Engineering West — co-located with Plastec West, Automation Technology Expo (ATX) West, Design & Manufacturing (D&M) West, and WestPack. Informa Markets Engineering West is the first live event of its stature in California since the lockdown and marks the beginning of a long-awaited revival of in-person trade shows and the resurgence of much-needed industry connection and education, said the show organizer.

A focal point of the event is the new Design. Engineer. Build. conference that will run alongside the expo. Sessions will explore such topics as trends in diagnostics, innovations in digital health, regulatory compliance, medical 3D printing, product development issues, quality management, and smart manufacturing. A track organized in partnership with the Society of Plastics Engineers (SPE) will focus on medical plastics through the prism of sustainability.
