Taiwan's Long Advance, for its LNT-21191-Z4C, a fabric based on post-consumer nylon obtained from tires, was awarded this week's Performance Days digital exhibition and conference (Dec. 1-2) Environmental awards.

The tires are recycled in a process developed by BASF called ChemCyling. This recycling platform can use both mixed plastic waste collected by municipal waste and discarded car tires. The waste is chemically recycled into pyrolysis oil, replacing petroleum as the feedstock. Recycled materials are distributed into products through certified mass balance methods.

Composed of 7% elastane and 93% recycled nylon, Long Advance fabric both reduces the need for synthetic fabrics and ensures that tire waste is recycled in a meaningful way.

East Brunswick, NJ-based Drirelease won the Performance Days Award for its Dricomfort Geo knitted fabric.

The treatment of the various fibers during the knitting process of Dricomfort Geo, combined with the process of its post-processing, enables this double-sided interlocking fabric - based on 50% recycled polyester, 44% polyester and 6% Lycra - become unique.
