The Fig. 6. 11 shows a construction method that the residual material is broken off in the closed mold. In such cases, a tunnel gate is frequently used. It is essential to detach the workpieces automatically from the residual material.
The mold is operated in the following manner: during the injection process, the nozzle of the machine presses the spring supported sprue bush 4(provided with a diameter larger than usual), which in turn presses the spring-supported plate 6 arranged underneath. The flow of the material is therefore not obstructed. When the nozzle of the machine moves away from the mold (of sprue bush), the belleville springs I lift the sprue bush 4 one or two millimeters, and the sprue residual is detached from the sprue bush 4, and the sprue bush 4 rip the tunnel gate off the workpieces by the movement of plate 6 supported by spring18.
