What material is S136steel?

S136 material is a kind of mold steel, which belongs to plastic mold steel. Due to the high chromium content, it has anti-rust function in the air. It is also called S136 mold steel as air-based stainless steel. Chromium Cr has a certain polishing performance, and the S136 material is pure, so the S136 material has mirror polishing performance.


S136 material is mainly used to make plastic molds. It is widely used in special working environments, and there are acidic plastic materials such as PVC, PP and other plastic molds. When producing transparent plastic products, optical products, and plastic products with good surface requirements, S136 mold steel will be used to make plastic molds. Such as: plastic lenses, sunglasses, light guides, swimming goggles, camera lenses.


Second, S136 materials common defects, causes, solutions:

Common defects in S136 materials are serious problems such as cracking, cracking, sand holes, and warping. S136H mold steel mirror polishing process, often encountered S136 mold steel grain, pitting, dark groups and other problems can not be mirror polished. All of these problems will cause the mold mirror polishing to be irreparable, and only the mold steel can be replaced and re-produced. The damage caused is incalculable.


The reasons and improvement methods that affect the mirror polishing performance of S136 materials are:

1. Impurities in the mold steel (such as: non-metallic inclusions, bubbles, oxides, sulfides, etc.) are the main reasons that affect the mirror polishing quality of the mold steel and the formation of pinholes and holes (commonly known as sand holes) during grinding. By improving the steelmaking process, the purity of the die steel is effectively improved, thereby improving the mirror processing performance of the die steel.


2. The unevenness of the microstructure of the die steel will cause defects such as hairline, abrasive spots and pits when the mirror steel is mirror-finished. By improving the steelmaking process and the heat treatment process, the uniformity of the microstructure of the die steel can be improved; the hardness of the die steel can be improved, and the mirror polishing performance of the die steel can be improved.
