One of the most common errors is sharp corners in plastics workpiece design. Designing with sharp comers may failure in final use because the sharp corners are areas of high stress concentration and drastically reduce the impact feature of workpiece. In general guideline, that removing sharp comers to radiused corners or transitions is highly recommended to eliminat stress concentration, and it will increase the strength of the cormer and transition and facilitate flow of the plastic material. Fig. 2. 16 and Fig. 2. 17 illustrate recommended design for using radii in comers to add strength, and help eliminate warpage.
